"YUUM CHAAK YÉETEL NA’ LU’UME". "Señor de la Lluvia y la Madre Tierra". 🌎 Según el calendario maya, junio es el mes dedicado al dios Chaak y a la madre tierra. Los antiguos mayas celebraban el "Ch’aa Chaak", una ceremonia para invocar la lluvia y asegurar la cosecha de maíz. 🌧️ En este ritual comunitario, las personas interpretan diferentes roles de animales que cantan anunciando la lluvia, como la chachalaca, el gallo, los sapos y la cigarra. El rito es encabezado por un Aj Men y sus ayudantes, quienes preparan un altar con elementos sagrados y realizan invocaciones al dios Chaak y a la madre tierra. ------- "YUUM CHAAK YÉETEL NA’ LU’UME" "Lord of the Rain and Mother Earth" 🌎 According to the Maya calendar, June is the month dedicated to the god Chaak and Mother Earth. The ancient Maya celebrated the Ch’aa Chaak, a ceremony performed to invoke rain and ensure a successful corn harvest. 🌧️ During this communal ritual, participants take on the roles of different animals whose calls are believed to announce the coming of rain, including the chachalaca, the rooster, frogs, and the cicada. The ceremony is led by an Aj Men (Maya spiritual guide) and his assistants, who prepare an altar with sacred elements and offer prayers and invocations to the god Chaak and Mother Earth.
